Unsere Fahrt f\u00fchrt zun\u00e4chst ins Hotel, wo uns ein umfangreiches Fr\u00fchst\u00fccksbuffet erwartet. Bereits die Fahrt zum Hotel gibt uns einen Eindruck von moderner arabischer Architektur, welche dem orientalischen Treiben im Souk gegen\u00fcbersteht.<\/p>\n

Am sp\u00e4ten Nachmittag beginnen wir unsere halbt\u00e4gige Besichtigungstour beginnend mit einem Halt an der Residenz seiner Majest\u00e4t Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. Eindrucksvoll pr\u00e4sentiert sich der Al Alam Palast<\/strong> flankiert von den Festungen Al Jalali<\/strong> und Al Mirani<\/strong>. Was w\u00e4re ein Rundgang ohne ein Besuch der Souk. Wir begeben uns zu einem der \u00e4ltesten Handelspl\u00e4tze des Nahen Osten. Noch heute werden hier lokale Produkte wie Gem\u00fcse, Kr\u00e4uter, Obst, Textilien, Schmuck, T\u00f6pferwaren und Kunsthandwerk angeboten. Tag 2\u00a0 Mascat \u2013 Wadi Al Arbeieen 45 Km<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bevor wir Mascat mit seiner malerischen Lage am Meer und den kargen braunen Bergen verlassen, besuchen wir die Sultan Qaaboos Moschee. Eindrucksvoll pr\u00e4sentiert sich die gr\u00f6\u00dfte und sehenswerteste Moschee des Landes. Das architektonische Schmuckst\u00fcck beeindruckt mit einem fast 4.300 m gro\u00dfen handgekn\u00fcpften Teppich und mit einem gewaltigen Kronleuchter. Nach dem Besuch der Moschee beginnen wir unsere Rad-Tour. Wir fahren \u00fcber die alte Stra\u00dfe von Maskat \u00fcber Yiti nach Quriyat. Auf dem Weg nach Wadi \u00c1l Arbeieen erwartet uns eine spektakul\u00e4re Schlucht mit hohen Bergw\u00e4nden, die mit \u00fcppiger Vegetation bedeckt ist. Tiefblau leuchten die Teiche und lassen uns eine Weile innehalten.<\/p>\n

Wir besuchen ein typisches omanisches Dorf, welches noch unber\u00fchrt von der Moderne ist. Die herzliche Gastfreundschaft der Einheimischen l\u00e4sst uns l\u00e4nger verweilen. Bei unsere Weiterfahrt durchqueren wir immer mal wieder B\u00e4che beim „Water Bashing“. W\u00e4hrend der Fahrt halten wir am Bimah Sinkhole , bevor es weiter zum Wadi Tiwi geht. Der atemraubenden Strand l\u00e4dt zum Baden und Radfahren ein. Der wei\u00dfe Sand und die Meeresbrise sorgen f\u00fcr ein unvergessliches Rad-und Badeerlebnis. Schlie\u00dflich geht die Fahrt weiter nach Sur, unterbrochen von kurzen Stopps an verschiedenen Touristenattraktionen. In Sur werden die ber\u00fchmten Dhau Boote gebaut, welche seit dem 4. Jahrhunderte eine wichtige Rolle im Handel mit Indien spielten. Bei einem Besuch in einer Dhau Werft<\/strong> erhalten wir Einblicke in die Schiffbaukunst, das alte traditionelle Handwerk im Sultanat<\/strong>. Nur in Sur kann man das Entstehen dieser traditionellen Holzschiffe noch besichtigen.<\/p>\n

Durch Palmenoasen<\/strong> und kleine W\u00e4lder f\u00fchrt unsere Radtour uns zun\u00e4chst nach Jalan<\/strong>. 35 km durch Palmenoasen und kleine W\u00e4lder bis nach Jalan. Nun ist es nicht mehr weit bis wir die ersten D\u00fcnen der Sandw\u00fcste ersp\u00e4hen. Nat\u00fcrlich verlassen wir nun f\u00fcr den sandigen Untergrund unsere R\u00e4der und k\u00f6nnen das Wechselspiel der Sandmuster entspannt vom Fahrzeug aus genie\u00dfen. Nach einer spannenden Fahrt erreichen wir das Haus einer Beduinenfamilie in der W\u00fcste. Wie w\u00e4re es mit einem Kamelritt<\/strong>?\u00a0 Unser W\u00fcstencamp<\/strong> l\u00e4sst keine W\u00fcnsche offen und bietet eine angenehmen Komfort. Tag 6 <\/strong>Wahibi Sands\u00a0 42 km<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Aufwachen in der W\u00fcste! Bevor wir abreisen bleibt uns noch ein wenig Zeit zur freien Verf\u00fcgung, dann fahren wir mit dem Bus zum Wadi Bani Khalid<\/strong>, einer Oase inmitten der kargen und trockenen Berge. Unterwegs steigen wir auf die R\u00e4der und tauchen in die so eigene Atmosph\u00e4re der kargen Natur ein.\u00a0 Welch ein Kontrast bei der Ankunft in einem der ber\u00fchmtesten Wadis im Oman. Die Becken mit klarem, tiefblauem Wasser locken ins Wasser, um ein erfrischendes Bad zu nehmen. Von hier geht es erfrischt weiter auf der alten Handelsstra\u00dfe nach Ibra<\/strong>.\u00a0 Die Landschaft ist abwechslungsreich und wir genie\u00dfen die Vielfalt der Natur. Tag 7 <\/strong>Ibra \u2013 Jabreen – Nizwa 45 km<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck fahren wir zun\u00e4chst zum bekannten Frauenmarkt in Ibra<\/strong>. Danach geht es weiter durch eine eindrucksvolle Bergkulisse des Hadjar-Gebirge<\/strong> zum Palast von Jabrin<\/strong>, der zu den sch\u00f6nsten und interessantesten Geb\u00e4uden Omans geh\u00f6rt. Seinen alten, m\u00e4rchenhaften Zustand mit den eindrucksvollen Deckenmalereien erhielt der Palast nach einer umfassenden Renovierung 1984 zur\u00fcck. Hier erh\u00e4lt man auch, dank der Einrichtung mit traditionellen Gegenst\u00e4nden und antiken M\u00f6belst\u00fccken, einen Einblick in das h\u00f6fische Leben des mittelalterlichen Omans. Ab hier wird wieder geradelt!<\/p>\n

Wir fahren etwas \u00fcber 40 km von Jabreen<\/strong> nach Nizwa<\/strong> \u00fcber Bahla,<\/strong> eine der \u00e4ltesten St\u00e4dte Omans.\u00a0 Im 12. Jahrhundert war Bahla<\/strong> die Hauptstadt des in der Region lebenden Stammes. Das gleichnamige Fort mit seinen aus ungebrannten Ziegeln gebauten T\u00fcrmen, wurde von in das UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe<\/strong> aufgenommen. Es ist ein bemerkenswertes Beispiel f\u00fcr die hiesige Festungsbauweise. Gleich nebenan liegt die Freitagsmoschee mit ihrer dekorativ gestalteten Gebetsnische. Heute erwartet uns eine etwas \u201eondulierte\u201c Radetappe. Es geht rauf und runter. Ab Tanuf<\/strong> fahren wir nach Al Hamra<\/strong>. Von hier geht es mit Jeeps weiter ind das Jabal Shams Gebirge<\/strong>. Unser Resort Hotel nimmt uns f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chsten zwei N\u00e4chte auf. Am Nachmittag lassen wir die R\u00e4der stehen und begeben uns auf eine Wanderung, den Balcony Trail.<\/strong> Wie der Name schon ahnen l\u00e4sst, laufen wir oberhalb einer Schlucht entlang und entdecken kleine D\u00f6rfer, welche heute von ihren Bewohner verlassen sind. Ein einfacher Weg f\u00fchrt uns in das idyllische Bergdorf Misfah<\/strong> mit seinen wundersch\u00f6nen Terrassenfeldern an steilen Bergh\u00e4ngen und dem antiken Falaj-Bew\u00e4sserungssystem<\/strong> (UNESCO Weltkulturerbe<\/strong>). Seine traditionelle Architektur und Methoden zur Bearbeitung der B\u00f6den lassen uns eine Weile verweilen, bevor wir das Dorf wieder verlassen und mit den Jeeps zur\u00fcck ins Resort fahren. Letzter Radtag! Nach einem kurzen Transfer bis Dar al Qill<\/strong>, radeln wir von hier hinauf nach Jabal Hatt<\/strong> und fahren \u00fcber Off-Road-Strecken<\/strong> hinunter nach Bilad Sayt<\/strong>. Das kleine Dorf zwischen den sch\u00fctzenden Bergen von Rustaq<\/strong> hat durch seine l\u00e4ndliche Abgeschiedenheit seinen traditionellen Charme bewahrt. Es ist typisch f\u00fcr die mittelalterliche omanische Bauart. Die alten Lehmh\u00e4user liegen auf Terrassen rund um den Fu\u00df des Berges. Zahlreiche Palmen und ein Meer und terrassierte Felder pr\u00e4gen das Landschaftsbild. Die Trinkwasserversorgung erfolgt durch Quellen, welche \u00fcber Kan\u00e4le das Wasser verteilen.<\/p>\n

Mit den R\u00e4dern geht es weiter durch eine tiefe Schlucht hinunter nach Al Awabi<\/strong>, hier bilden Dattelpalmen einen lebhaften Kontrast zu den rauen, kargen Bergen. Trotz ihrer unwirtlichen Natur bieten die Berge Schutz vor der brennenden Sonne. Nach Erreichen des Snake Canyon<\/strong> steigen wir um in unseren Bus und fahren zur\u00fcck nach Mascat.
