You arrive by train or by car in Saumur. Here you can visit the beautiful castle which thrones above the city and you have time to enjoy the historian atmosphere and the awesome view. Then you can stroll through small picturesque streets and start your holiday with a Café.
On the route from Saumur to Angers you will follow, besides short exceptions, the Loire River which gets bigger and bigger. Today you will cycle through picturesque villages and thanks to the castle ruins you get a good impression of the historic importance of the area. Immediately after arriving in Angers, you have the feeling of being in a scene of the Middle Ages.
Before your departure, the visit of the “Apocalypse Tapestry” at the Chateau d’Angers is a must see! It is one of the main attractions of this old city of arts. Here you can learn more about the moving history.
Today you cycle on a very beautiful path which brings you to Nantes. Here you can learn more about the history of the dukes of Brittany. For centuries Nantes was the capital of Brittany, so now you are in ancient part of it. The castle lies impressively in the very city centre with studwork houses nearby. This young and vibrant city will fascinate you with all its facets.
After your departure from Nantes you cycle along the Loire River before you get to the romantic nature park „Parc Naturel régional de Brière“. Along the way you see old Brittonic stone houses. Your hotel lies in the middle of the nature park. Far away from all stress you can admire beautiful nature and relax completely.
You approach more and more the Atlantic Sea. After the beautiful green you get to see landscapes of lagoons and bogs on your way to the coast. What an amazing area; on an almost all flat path you arrive in the seaside resort La Baule. Your country house hotel welcomes you. And then: let’s go to the beach!
After breakfast you have the possibility to take the train from La Baule to Saumur.
