Characteristics of this journey/holiday

Day by day

Day 1 Bastia

Arrival by plane or boat in Bastia in northern Corsica. Welcome meeting and cocktail then first French dinner.

Quel plaisir!

Day 2 Bastia  24 km

We start from the hotel and cycle with fantastic views over the sea, the island of Elba and Bastia. Visit of the old city: the citadel, the Governor’s Palace and the churches of Bastia, including its landmark Saint Jean-Baptiste.  Continue by bike to the nature reserve L‘Etang de Biguglia, cycling between lovely beaches on one side and the nature reserve on the other. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 Bastia – Macinaggio 38 km

Today’s destination is the harbour town of Macinaggio. From the hotel we enjoy the serpentine bends down to the corniche. Continue along the coast with breathtaking views over deep blue and crystal clear water and through picturesque villages. Erbalunga, Sisco and the old Genoese donjons from the 16th century provide a varied day of cycling.  During the picnic break you can go for a swim. More beautiful views in the afternoon.

Day 4 Macinaggio – Canari   42 km

Today we start with a hike in the nature reserve, Natura 2000. The coastal landscape between Macinaggio and Canari is unbeatable. Picnic with marvellous views. The highlight of the day is the small harbour village of Centuri. The landscape changes to more limestone rock formations.

Day 5 Canari – Saint Florent   36 km

Another day on this beautiful coast road. One of the exceptional villages today is Nonza. It is located 100 m above its black pebbled beach. From the tower Paoline you have the most stunning view over the gulf of Saint Florent.

Day 6 Saint Florent round trip  40 km

Short transfer to Col de Santo Stefano Pass. After a short climb we start the relaxed tour along the mountain chain above Saint Florent. A must-see is one of the most beautiful churches of Corsica: San Michele near Murato. Its location and its polychrome interior are very unique. Cycling though countryside landscape, you arrive at the picnic spot with its fabulous view over the mountain villages. The descent brings you just in front of the hotel. You can choose to swim in the sea or in the swimming pool and enjoy the evening.

Day 7 Belgodère – Ile Rousse   42 km

A days cycling along scenic roads and through mountain villages such as Belgodère, Ville-di-Paraso, Feliceto and Muro. A wonderful trip with some easy climbs to the village of Balagne.  Admire olive trees and the mills which are activated by the many streams. The tour ends with a long descent through the vineyards to Ile Rousse. Here you can enjoy the fine sandy beach. On the way back, we stop in the village of Patrimonio, which is famous for its excellent wine. Wine tasting!
