Day by day
Day 1 Around the Champs Elysées 14 km
Arrival till noon in Paris, either by plane, train or car. Pick-up with FRANCE A VELO from the train station. The hotel is located in the heart of Paris. Check-in.
This afternoon occupied France is the topic. We visit the Place Concordes, the Rue du Faubourg de Saint Honoré, see the ministries of the quater and the Elysée Palace, Hotel Meurice and the Hotel Intercontinental which was occupied by Germans during the „Occupation“.
Day 2 Quartier Saint Germain about 17 km
We cycle through the „Latin quarter“ Saint Germain, the students neighborhood. Its origins are in the Middle Age. Many small boutiques are alternate with old book stores and loads of small restaurants and cafés. On our way we see the Fontaine St Michel, the Sorbonne, Hotel Cluny where we will switch into Romain times. We can see the ruins of Romain baths. Further we discover the former city wall of Paris from the 12th century. We will stop from time to time to taste some of the delicious French specialties, hmm c’est bon!
Day 3 Versailles 24 or 48 km
The castle of Versailles is a must see! In 1661 XIV started to build one of the most prestigious castles in Europe, with its impressive gardens that were designed by world famous landscape architects like Le Vau, Mansart and Le Nôtre.
Picturesque course of the road along the Seine and further on a cycling path up to Versailles. Visit of the gardens and the castle in the afternoon. Possibility of transfer back to Paris or return by bike.
Day 4 Quartier of power 26 km
Triumphant architecture is in the focus of today’s bike journey. First we will cycle to the Eiffel Tower and to Trocadero to take some pictures. Next stop: Dôme des Invalides with Napoleons tomb, the most famous French person. Visit and continuation of the journey, past the Ecole Militaire, to Hotel Matignon, today’s office of the head of government. The Louvre was built in 1190 as fortress of the king of France Philipp-August is one of the biggest museums in the world.
To finish this wonderful afternoon we will guide you through the amazing Belle Epoque Galeries. In 1900 they were the first covered shopping malls. Shall we stop at the Grand Café Colbert? The decor is unique and it is time for a coffee or an aperitive…
After breakfast you have time for several visits but then it is time to say: Au revoir Paris et peut-être à bientôt!
