Description

The Green Heart is a rural region surrounded by the major cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Today you will find the Holland of yesteryear here: low-lying Today you will find the Holland from the picture book of yesteryear here: low-lying peat meadows with grazing cattle, wide polders under a beautiful sky, lakes, streams and rivers as well as pretty villages with monumental farmhouses. You’ll also stop in a number of attractive cities, including the „cheese town” of Gouda. The terrain on this bike tour is flat throughout.

Day by day

Day 1 Arrival in Utrecht/Bunnik

Arrival in Utrecht. For availability reasons, you may stay in Bunnik instead of Utrecht.

Day 2 Utrecht/Bunnik – Amsterdam 63 km

You cycle along the banks of the beautiful little river Vecht to Amsterdam, characteristic of this area are the many stately houses and garden pavilions built by rich Amsterdam merchants in the 17th and 18th centuries. At the end of the day, Amsterdam welcomes you with its 165 romantic city center canals, 1,281 bridges and more than 600,000 bicycles. Amsterdam is a city to discover. There is so much to see and experience, whether you like art, culture, an evening outing or just strolling and immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the city. You can take a better look at the beautiful canal houses on a canal cruise.

Day 3 Amsterdam – Gouda 68 km

you will pass characteristic old Dutch towns and villages. At the end of the day, if you stroll around Gouda, don’t miss the Gothic Town Hall (1450), the Cradle House (1667), the romantic downtown canals and the stained glass windows in St. John’s Church. If possible, plan your trip so that you can experience the traditional Thursday morning cheese market at the beginning of Day 4. Gouda is also known for making candles and syrup waffles (try a warm one!).

Day 4 Gouda – Utrecht/Bunnik 50 km

The landscape with rivers, polders, lakes, forests, parks and moors is ideal for a beautiful bike ride, along the way you will see stately estates and castles The lively center of the big city of Utrecht attracts with its quiet inner city canals and characteristic quays that are unique to Utrecht. Explore the pretty museum district or window shop on some of the quieter shopping
streets.

After breakfast your cycling holiday is over.
