Characteristics of this journey/holiday

Day by day

Day 1 Souillac La Cave

We will organize a picnic at the train station if you arrive by train. Our local representative will welcome you and an aperitif while be served to you while she gives you all documents and instructions.

Day 2 Souillac La Cave –  Coly 36 km    

Your first day riding is easy and follows the valley with many visits possible, most notably the gardens of Eyrignac. Nice château to visit when you arrive in Salignac. Your day finishes in Coly.

Day 3 Coly  –  Les Eyzies 33 km    

You have time to visit Lascaux before leaving and then begin a leisurely ride towards St Genies, a typical village. You will then enter the Vézère valley, famous for its prehistorical past. Many places to visit along the way, for example Roque-St-Christophe, with its caverns set in the rock. Your cycling ends In Les Eyzies de Tayac, world prehistoric centre, where you will discover the well-known archaeological wealth and underground caves.

Day 4 Les Eyzies 37 km    

A longer ride today, you will want to start your day early to spend more time in Les Eyzies to visit the grottos. Be sure to also visit the château in the village of Beynac perched on a clifftop as well.

Tag 5 Les Eyzies – Sarlat 25 km

The ride from Les Eyzies takes you through Montignac where along the way is the famous Lascaux and Lascaux II grottos. In Sarlat, largest medieval town in Europe, true jewel of the renaissance and gothic era.

Day 6 around  Sarlat 47 km          

You can visit the grottos of Cougnac before continuing to the Dordogne Valley where you start to discover many of the local châteaux. You will have time to visit the château and fortified village of Domme overlooking the river. La Roque Gageac is an old river port pressed against the cliffside.

Day 7 Sarlat – La Cave 47 km

Returning now to the starting point, you will follow the Dordogne River and along the way pass the chateaux of Veyrignac and Fénelon. Return to the same hotel as the first night.

Day 8 Departure

Transfer to the train station.

By plane: direct flight from PARIS ORLY to AERODROME DE BRIVE-LAROCHE (BVE) (21 km away from Souillac). The nearest international airports are BORDEAUX, TOULOUSE, MARSEILLE

By train: Arrival station: SOUILLAC
Trains every three hours from Austerlitz station to Souillac station (direct connection or with a connecting train). Takes about 4.45 hours
