Characteristics of this journey/holiday

Day by day

Day 1

Meeting of all travellers at the airport in Frankfurt. Joint check-in and departure to Denpasar.

Day 2

Arrival in Denpasar at midday and immediate transfer to a small village on the south-east coast of Bali. Opportunity to take a first dip in the sea or relax on the beach.

Day 3  Tirtagangga and rice cultures 36 km

The Bali cycling adventure can begin. After a short transfer by bus through the monkey forest our cycle tour begins in a typical farming area. Travelling fields, but also Balinese villages alternate. Warm contact with the locals reflects the Balinese hospitality. We learn a lot about the daily life of the Balinese.

Day 4  North coast 24 km

The highlight of the day is the Tirtagangga water palace. Walk to the palace and visit.

With picturesque views, the ride continues then slightly uphill through the beautifully situated rice terraces. The sight of the ocean the desire to go for a swim arises, but we have to patience, first of all there are a few easy climbs and then return back to the hotel in Amed.

Day 5  Agung volcano in view 52 km

Shortly after setting off on our bikes, it lies before us, the Gunung Agung volcano with its 3142 m. It’s the highest mountain in Bali and is also known as “the seat of the gods”. The crater is 200 metres deep crater and is a popular hiking destination. We enjoythe majestic view from our bikes. The last stretch to our hotel can now be covered either by the accompanying bus or by bike. The road is very well and leads through clove passages and and mango-growing areas. Now the volcano Batur is in view.

Day 6  Volcanic landscapes and plantations 31 km

First of all, the volcanic landscape and the volcanic cauldron, also known as the caldera. Then the landscape becomes greener and greener and opens up views of fertile land, the soil of which enables the cultivation of vegetables. Chilli and cocoa plantations can also be seen here in many places and we learn more about their cultivation. The last stretch is done by the accompanying bus or, for the the tireless can also do a short additional stretch by bike.

Day 7 Hike through the tropical forest

What would a stay in the tropical forest be without a dip in the waterfall ? The bikes have a break today, we don’t!

We walk through the rainforest with an expert guide and our bathing suits in our luggage. In the afternoon we are at Lake Bratan to visit the temple complex, which is dedicated to Dewi Sri.

From here it is not far to the colourful orchid and fruit markets at Cany Kuning.

Day 8 Mountain air and Indian Ocean 39 km

Today’s cycling day begins with almost 1400 metres of altitude, but don’t worry, our support buses will take us us to the highest point. From here we have one last view of the two lakes, Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. The view and the descent are magnificent!

It’s a marvellous ride towards the coast and the Indian ocean, which glistens in the sunlight. Along the plantations along the way and always the friendly smiles of the Balinese. Opportunity to buy cloves or coffee. Arrival at the beach hotel,which we will for the next 3 days.

Day 9 Hot springs without hot tyres 26 km 26 km

Morning cycle ride to the hot springs of Air Panas Banjar. The 30 degree hot springs are located in the middle of a tropical landscape. Lunch and return to the hotel. Free time in the afternoon and opportunity for an extensive walk along the beach and enjoy the Indian Ocean.

Day 10  Temple landscapes 36 km

A fantastic cycle route is on the programme today and an important temple complex: the Pura Maduwe Karang. It is located in Kubutambahan and deserves our special reverence. The temple complex is particularly famous for the particularly imaginative and beautiful stone carvings on the gates and the walls of the shrines. There are also modern, artistically alienated elements, for example a relief with a cyclist., The wheels of his bicycle are designed as giant blossoms. The fresh water pool of Yeh Sanih will cool us down and then it’s not far to the end of our stage.

Day 11  Artists’ town of Ubud 34 km

Dream landscapes were promised, here they are ! The descent from the high plateau is fantastic and fortunately it goes up a little in between up a little so that you can enjoy the landscape at your leisure. After immersing yourself in the deep greenery, the entrance to the artists’ village of Ubud seems like a return to another world. Despite the steady increase in tourism, Ubud has retained has retained its charm. The stronghold of painters and textile artists promises an interesting stay. In the evening there is a Balinese dance performance.

Day 12  Sacred springs and temples 32 32 km

You cycle through the rice terraces and fields through an evergreen landscape to the holy Tirta Empul springs. A refreshment does us good and refreshment and invigorates us for the onward journey to the royal tombs Gunung Kawi. Situated on the Pakrisan River, Puru Gunung Kawi is a highly interesting burial site which was built in the 11th century and rediscovered in 1920. It is one of the most impressive places of worship on the island of Bali. There are 9 tombs dug out of the tufa rock, at a height of 7 metres.  They are dedicated to King Anak Wungsu. Leisurely drive back through the rice fields to Ubud.

Day 13  Tannah Lot Temple 20 km

The last cycle excursion takes place in the morning. Last opportunity to visit the market and buy some souvenirs. Then we take the bus to Tannah Lot. Bali’s landmark was built in the 16th century and is only accessible to the faithful at low tide. only accessible at low tide. During the guided tour we learn more about the history of the temple complex Tannah Lot. Then it’s time to wait for the sunset, with an unforgettable view. We say goodbye to the temples and a little bit of Bali, because the farewell evening follows!

Day 14  Lombok

Travel by speedboat to Lombok. Transfer to the beach hotel and free time on the dream beach with opportunities for snorkelling, beach walking, diving and relaxing.

Day 15  Lombok

Departure for the day hike. It takes about 4 hours through the tropical forest with a stop at the waterfall and a cooling swim. For lunch we visit a small Balinese restaurant. Impressive views of the terraced landscape of Lombok and information about the biodiversity of the plants of the rainforest make the day pass very quickly.

Day 16  Lombok

Unfortunately, it’s time to leave the dream island, unless you wish to extend your holiday. Transfer to the airport and return flight from Denpasar to Frankfurt.

Day 17 Lombok

Return to Frankfurt.
